Through photography, Nathaniel Thompson documents the ever-changing state of the vernacular to present a nuanced meditation of the precipice between tradition and loss that illustrates his own complicated relationship to contemporary Southern America.
Thompson depicts images of everyday architecture that are both nostalgic and beautiful in an attempt to encourage the viewer to look deeply at their daily environment. Local monuments lost to deterioration, homes made from crumbling houses, small businesses that seem to have existed for decades only to be gone tomorrow, Thompson captures the humanity and culture within the landscape.
